Mireia Vargas-Urpi is a visiting professor at the Departament of Translation and Language Sciences of the Universitat Pompeu Fabra (UPF, Barcelona). She holds a PhD in Translation and Intercultural Studies by the Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona (UAB), where she also obtained a Master Degree in Contemporary Research in East Asia and a BA in Translation and Interpreting.
Her research focuses on public service interpreting and intercultural mediation for the Chinese in Catalonia. She is also interested in nonverbal communication in intercultural interactions. She has published several articles and book chapters and has participated in national and international conferences. She is a member of MIRAS (UAB) and of the TIPp project, "Translation and interpreting in criminal proceedings", granted by the Spanish Ministry for Economy and Competivity.
