Ulrike Fuehrer is a conference interpreter, consultant interpreter and co-owner of Context.ie. Ulrike set up a nation-wide interpreting service in Ireland for large hospitals, courts and police stations and is currently piloting video interpreting services for this client group.
Ulrike has a background in interpreting, translation and training. In the absence of access to training for public service interpreters, Ulrike designed and delivered interpreter training certified by the Open College Network Northern Ireland.
As the expert for interpreting standards in the Irish ISO member organisation, Ulrike is involved in preparing ISO standards on interpreting and translation. Since the publication of ISO 13611 “Interpreting – Guidelines for Community Interpreting”, her focus is now on the preparation for publication of 18841 “Interpreting Services - General requirements and recommendations”.
In a voluntary capacity, Ulrike is part of the interpreter organising team for the http://www.caux.ch/en/caux-conferences arranged each year by the Swiss foundation for peace and reconciliation “Initiatives of Change”.
