Nadja Grbic

Nadja Grbić has studied linguistics and Slavic languages and is Assistant Professor at the Department for Translation Studies at the University of Graz, Austria. She teaches translation and interpreting studies and is currently preparing her post-doctoral dissertation (Habilitation) on the construction of sign language interpreters as an occupational group in Austria. Research topics include sign language interpreting, the profession of interpreters and translators, sociological issues of translation and interpreting, translation history, and scientometrics. She has conducted several research projects on sign language interpreting and sign language lexicography and developed a full time training program for sign language interpreters at university level, which started in the autumn of 2002 in Graz.
